Okay, since we all know that this board was originally created for the intents and purposes of having a game clan. But seeing how that is very very unlikely....I was going to propose the idea of promoting the forum....a la BlankTek.
The problem with the forum right now is that we all know each other and the tech news area is basically limited mainly to just Andrew and I in updating the news. Martin has has go at spewing random shiznit and etc. We need fresh blood! Or perhaps more eloquently putting it...........more WAAAAAGGH! In order for the forum to grow with fresh ideas and fresh content with each and every visit, we need more members. So I propose we start advertising this sucker! Mainly to other forums you guys go to and people you know. Thats my idea, and tell me what you guys think of it. Maybe we should just keep this one to ourselves and start a second forum just for that purpose (I can create up to 25 different forums if I wanted -------------------- "Remember kids, Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse, and helping your Uncle jack off a horse." - TSS

Well, for me the reason for this forum was both to have a friends/clan/new-blanktek so I think its accomplished its goal, however I do agree that you+me are doing a lot of the posting.....
Richard's post count - 691 Me post count - 603 Next closest person - 362 The thing with promoting on other forums/websites is that in teh past, when I see other people doing that for their forums, it just annoys me. I figure promoting persno-to-person LIGHTLY is ok, but not on de interweb... -------------------- ::::::::: pc specs ::::::::: xfire stats :::::::::

Well, promoting it in teh sig, but not blatantly saying "JOIN MY FORUM" in your posts or creating a thread and etc.

I notice the mods keep having to delete/lock threads about the other forum. As new members join and they have been starved of gossip and scandel for the past week the first question they ask is whats going on with the other forum. Why dont you create a sticky on the general chat explaining the Politically correct statement about the situation and what this forum is about and how its not here to slag off the CTRO but just an alternative

Not on the forum site. Like jason said: keep it to the point. Livepc.tv may have different color formats depending on if Faraz makes them or not. I like the interface as it currently is and so do our viewers as a majority. out of curiosity though, what did u have in mind for the forums?

After some work, I've managed to make the forum part of the store, thus giving more of a streamlined experience. However for security reasons the logins are still and will always be seperate.

I have a question. Why the fuck are we back to this shit again? I mean no one uses this forum except us and I thought we stopped the spam problem and now it seems like it's back. As much as I love watching your responses to bots I'd rather this site have no updates than this pointless shit.

As much as I love watching your responses to bots I'd rather this site have no updates than this pointless shit. Actually the situation has always been this way. Users in the "Validating" group could always post in the "Site Suggestions" area of the forum but not in any other. The original idea for this was that if any real people registered that they could post in this section, we would see it, validate them and then they would be members. Somewhat recently the bots have become smarter, better, faster, stronger, a learning computer and thus started posting in this section randomly. I'm not sure what the event trigger is though for them to actually spam. They don't have links in their posts or signatures going to anything. I'm not aware of them trying to PM either (I think that ability is blocked, not sure). I have been thinking about talking with Richard about moving to the latest version of phpBB, a project I would try to handle myself. I know he is a much big fan of IP.board, and in many ways it is slicker, but I think things have developed enough that the LEGALLY FREE phpBB alternative is worth the compromise along with updated CAPTCHA. This could allow for open registration again. The biggest issue would be the backend move, trying to maintain all the posts/threads we already have. -------------------- ::::::::: pc specs ::::::::: xfire stats :::::::::
