Core i7 930
$249 - http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_...duct_id=0331303

Just a small clock bump over the 920 (2.8GHz vs 2.67GHz). Rumor is that price will drop to $229 starting March 8th according to someone on hardforum.

The Core i7 930 is socket 1366. The X58 chipset is the only chipset with socket 1366. There are no other options. Yes it would work.

cpu + ram + motherboard = the basics

You have a video card to go with that? Most stuff is video card limited these days.

Well, the 920s don't seem to be available from MC anymore. Only the 860 and 930 now at the prices above.

Supposedly a completely in-store deal only but the Core i7 875K (the new unlocked cpu) is $199.99 from now until from now until June 20th.
